The partnership has made it the first since a recent Work With Home Assistant program update.

Aqara offers a rich selection of Zigbee and Matter-over-Thread/Wi-Fi devices. This partnership will see four devices certified to work seamlessly with Home Assistant.

The three devices and a hub were certified by Home Assistant:

  • Motion and Light Sensor P2
  • Door and Window Sensor P2
  • Smart Lock U200
  • Hub M3

The integration primarily focuses on Matter, as the first three are Matter-over-Thread devices, and the last one is a Matter Controller and a Matter Bridge. Aqara allows selected Zigbee and IR devices to be exposed to Matter platforms, including Home Assistant.

Seen as an early adopter of Matter, Aqara’s new products that support the standard will enhance connectivity with Home Assistant. Matter allows devices to connect directly with Home Assistant, enabling local control over smart home data. It also supports multiple ecosystems simultaneously, thereby offering users a degree of flexibility and control.

This partnership is initiated by the Open Home Foundation, a non-profit organization that fosters brand participation in the Home Assistant community. It is an ongoing initiative to ensure devices provide optimal user experience with Home Assistant, backed by responsive support and maintenance assurance.
