The International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA) 2024 kicked off on Friday, showcasing groundbreaking smart home products from leading brands such as LG, Midea, and Aqara. The event promises a glimpse into the future of home automation with several key announcements and product unveilings.
Aqara New H2 Series
Aqara has introduced its H2 series of wall switches, a range that supports both Zigbee and Thread protocols. This lineup includes light switches, dimmer switches, and shutter switches, catering to diverse user needs. Notably, the H2 series can be installed with or without neutral wires, a unique feature in the Thread wall switch market like the Z1 series.

The brand also debuted its first color light bulb, the LED Bulb T2, available in RGB CCT and CCT models and compatible with E26, E27, and GU10 fittings. However, Aqara has yet to disclose whether the bulbs feature dual-radio chips or separate firmware for Zigbee and Thread functionalities. The Zigbee versions are expected to offer more advanced features.
Additionally, Aqara has expanded its portfolio with several other smart devices, including the Camera Hub G5 Pro, Voice Mate H1, Garage Door Controller T2 Kit, Valve Controller T1, and Smoke Detector.
NanoLeaf Introduces Blocks
NanoLeaf has expanded its panel light collection with the introduction of ‘Blocks.’ Resembling the Canvas panels but in a more modular, square shape like an IKEA product, the Blocks are poised to add a new dimension to home lighting design.

The modularized design assemble with pegboards and shelving units, making it a brilliant addition to home ambiance.
Also noteworthy is the launch of the Scene + switch, now available for preorder. Initially revealed two years ago, the Scene + aims to streamline light and scene control within NanoLeaf’s ecosystem without requiring complex scripting or third-party devices.
SwitchBot
SwitchBot also introduces some unique offerings during IFA 2024.
Among the highlights is the highly anticipated SwitchBot Robot Vacuum K10+ Pro Combo, which combines a compact robot vacuum, a cordless vacuum, and a dual auto-emptying base station. This vacuuming system is designed for thorough cleaning from floors to ceilings and features a space-saving design for convenience.

SwitchBot also introduced its new air purifiers, including an Air Purifier with superior filtration and an Air Purifier Table that doubles as a multifunctional furniture piece with wireless charging capabilities. The Roller Shade, another significant release, offers adjustable widths and replaceable fabrics to fit any window and decor.
In addition, SwitchBot showcased three recent launches: the Wallet Finder Card, an ultra-slim tracker compatible with Apple’s Find My network; an Evaporative Humidifier with auto-refill features; and the Meter Pro & Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor), providing real-time monitoring of temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels.
Furthermore, the brand introduced a Matter-over-Wi-Fi relay supporting dry contacts, which has yet to be available for preorder.
Bosch’s New [+M] Product Line
Bosch continues to embrace the Matter standard with its latest [+M] product line, which includes the Radiator Thermostat II [+M], Door/Window Contact II [+M], and Plug Compact [+M]. These devices are designed to work seamlessly within both Bosch’s Smart Home infrastructure and wider Matter ecosystems.
While Bosch did not specify whether these products use Matter-Over-Thread or Wi-Fi, they confirmed dual support for Zigbee and Matter protocols, ensuring compatibility without needing a Bosch Smart Home Controller.

Midea Smart Oven with AI Cooking
Midea unveiled its new One Oven Series, combining microwave, steam, bake, and air fry functions in a built-in design. The standout feature of these ovens is their AI-powered cooking capabilities, which adjust heating based on the food’s preparation stage.
Two models, 7NT30E4 and TR850E-TV0E00, included with the lineup, are also compatible with third-party smart home platforms like Alexa for voice control, enhancing their versatility in connected kitchens.
